OPERATING PRINCIPLE

• When water enters, a potential difference is
created between the brass body and the zinc anode, which generates a
electrolysis and causes the release of zinc ions.
Zn 2+ + 2HCO3 - > ZnCO3 + H2O + CO2
• These zinc ions cause a change in the crystal structure
calcium carbonate (limestone). This modification generates a
form of limestone called aragonite.
• Aragonite forms soft tartar which, like calcite, does not have
propensity to form solid deposits, but is evacuated out of the
canalization systems thanks to the flow of water.
